Stand Out in a crowded field and train to work with trauma, somatically
Welcome to the next natural step for counsellors ready to meet the body where trauma, and healing, actually happens. Most counselling training stops short of equipping practitioners to work effectively with trauma — despite research showing that 94% of people entering therapy have experienced at least one traumatic event.
Our CPCAB accredited somatic training adds the depth, confidence, and clinical edge your practice needs to thrive, especially in an increasingly crowded field where clients find that talking alone often isn’t enough.

Whether you're newly qualified or approaching the end of your Level 4 diploma, the next step matters. The CPCAB-accredited Level 5 Certificate in Working Somatically with Trauma fills the gap left by most counselling training, giving you the tools to work confidently with what actually shows up in the room. Somatic therapy has recently seen a surge of interest from clients and therapists alike who have realised that somatic interventions can reach places that other therapies are not able to go, simply because the resolution lies in the body and not in the mind.

We now know that the biological systems activated by trauma
are the same ones involved in everyday experiences of anxiety, depression, stress, and relational conflict. That same system is also the gateway to joy, ease and connection, making a somatic approach not just useful, but essential for the effectiveness of your work, the wellbeing of your clients, and the sustainability of your practice.
In a competitive field where many are worried about finding work, being able to offer an integration with trauma-attuned, body-focused therapy sets you apart. It’s a vital next step, a clinical deepening, and a future-proofing of your practice all in one.
This training offer a way of working with trauma that recognises the intricate connection between mind and body and honours the importance of both understanding, and experience. It is grounded in the belief that we heal, not only when we can understand and make sense of what happened to us, but by restoring a sustainable sense of embodied safety helping us to reconnect to ourselves, but also to others.
Our CPCAB-accredited Level 5 training is designed for counsellors and psychotherapists who want to integrate somatic approaches into their work. It supports practitioners in reconnecting to their own felt sense, not just as a technique, but as a way of being, and equips them to track, read and respond to the nervous systems of their clients with clarity and care.
We work with the subtle shifts that happen in breath, body, tone, and attention. We learn to recognise signs of collapse, freeze, or protective activation. And we practice how to meet these states with safety, skill, and relational presence.
This is body-based trauma work is built on contemporary neuroscience, rooted in ethical clinical practice, and delivered in small groups of 15 where learning is relational, practical, and human.
